Today, the Ghana mission team from the Appomattox Baptist Association started our ministry work in partnership with Emmanuel Mustapha and the Ghana Baptist Convention.
One team member, Rev. Scott Curtis of Providence Baptist Church in Red House, taught 1 Corinthians for a group of 24 pastors. Meanwhile, the other seven team members went out with drivers and interpreters to help plant two churches and encourage another.
At the end of the day, Rev. Chad Harris of Calvary Baptist Church in Concord, had this to say:
“I have been looking forward to this trip for months and today was our first day on mission. What a day! Today, I had the blessing of seeing God work in amazing ways. We visited two villages today with the purpose of sharing the Gospel message for the very first time. We had an interpreter that did a tremendous job of setting up the gatherings.
We met with the people of these two villages under a tree, and this organic experience included prayer, singing, testimonies, and a Gospel message with an opportunity to respond to Christ. Rev. Adam Tyler (Grace Hills BC) and I had the privilege of delivering the Gospel presentation. After many received Christ, leaders were chosen for the church.
These leaders will be disciples and we are looking forward to what God has in store for them. After the church plants, we went to another village to meet with a new church plant that needed some encouragement.
A stirring message was given by Rev. Reggie Warren (Union Hill BC), and afterward we had a great discussion with the villagers about how we can come alongside them to see them grow in the Lord. After a long day, many of our teammates are tired and dusty, but I believe I can speak for the entire team when I say I would not trade this experience for the world!”
Please keep our team in prayer tomorrow; we have many opportunities to share Christ’s love:
- Rev. Scott Curtis (Providence BC) will continue training pastors.
- Diane Lee and Heather Swanberg (Providence BC) will have a training session with women in one of the areas we will be visiting.
- Rev. Adam Tyler (Grace Hills BC), Rev. Reggie Warren (Union Hill BC), Rev. Chad Harris (Calvary BC), and Thomas Reeves and Brian Bennett (Providence BC) will be baptizing new believers and distributing mosquito nets.
